Rhody lost its home finale 2-0 to Dayton on Sunday, but the Rams' 17 conference points proved just enough to hold onto the top-four seed. Boosted by a strong defense, Rhode Island closed the regular season with an 5-3-2 league record, going 11-5-2 overall.  It was the third time in five years the Rams qualified for the postseason.
Rhode Island will host No. 5 VCU in a battle of the Rams on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. ET. VCU finished the regular season with a 7-9-3 overall record, going 5-4-1 in A-10 play and earning the No. 5 seed in a three-team tiebreaker with Fordham and Loyola Chicago
Friday marks the first postseason match in Kingston since the Rams hosted the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
