How It Happened
A first-set rally by Davidson set the tone as the visiting Wildcats swept Rhode Island 26-24, 25-20, 25-16 Saturday to take both weekend matches between the teams.

Set One - Davidson 26, Rhode Island 24
Rhode Island had four set points at 24-20, but Davidson ran off six straight points to take the set in stunning fashion. Elena Garcia-Guerrios had three kills and a solo block during the run to give the visitors the set.

Set Two - Davidson 25, Rhode Island 20
It was a tightly contested set with URI leading 19-18 after an attack error by the Wildcats. From there, Davidson surged late, scoring seven of the final eight points. Ariyana Johnson and Elena Garcia-Guerrios each had two kills during the run as the Wildcats staked a 2-0 lead. Rhode Island had a negative attack percentage in the set, getting seven kills with eight attack errors.

Set Three - Davidson 25, Rhode Island 16
The final set was all Davidson. The Wildcats built a 16-8 lead and never let Rhode Island seriously challenge the outcome. Emma Slusser had four kills without an error and Elena Garcia-Guerrios added three of her own to put the match away.

  • Emma Vente had seven kills, five digs and four service aces for the Rams.
  • Havyn Rolle led the team with nine kills to go with four digs.
