RHODE ISLAND VS. HOLY CROSS - Series notesÂ
- Rhode Island hosts Holy Cross at the Ryan Center Wednesday night.
- The Rams are 4-10 all-time against the Crusaders.
- The last meeting between the two schools was Dec. 2, 2021 in a 66-54 loss in Worcester.
- It's the first trip to the Ryan Center for Holy Cross since the Rams handed the Crusaders a 73-58 loss back on Dec. 5, 2019.
- The first meeting between the two schools was Nov. 25, 1988. Holy Cross won, 87-58.
- Rhody is 3-0 at home this season, while the Crusaders are 1-2 on the road.
- URI assistant strength and conditioning coach Jamie Woelmer spent six seasons on the strength and conditioning staff at Holy Cross prior to her arrival in Kingston.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
- Holy Cross opened its season with a thrilling win over Boston College, 72-71.
- Last time out, the Crusaders dropped a 78-77 overtime battle at Marist.Â
- Three of Holy Cross' four games have been decided by one point. The Crusaders are 2-1 in that stretch.
- Holy Cross fell at No. 7 Duke 91-48.
- The Crusaders have three averaging double figures in scoring through the first four games.
- Meg Cahalan paces the team with 15.7 points per game, while Simone Foreman adds 8.3 rebounds per game.
- Holy Cross enters its second year under head coach Candice Green.
- The Crusaders concluded the 2024-25 season in fifth place with a 19-12, 11-7 record.Â
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
- The Rams are 3-0 at home this season, averaging 84.3 points per game at the Ryan Center.Â
- Last year, Rhody went 10–5 in Kingston,
- Head coach Tammi Reiss is 65-18 at home over her seven seasons.Â
- This year, URI will play 15 games at the Ryan Center, including two of its next three.
- Last time in Kingston, the Rams beat UAlbany 64-52 behind 12 points each from Palmire Mbu and Brooklyn Gray.
- Rhode Island beat Emmanuel College back on Nov. 10 105-49. The 105 points matched the fourth-most in program history. The Rams also scored 105 points against Temple back on Feb, 20, 1996.
- It was just the second time in the history of the Ryan Center that URI hit the century mark. Both times were under Reiss.Â
GRAY GETTING COMFORTABLE
- Rhode Island senior Brooklyn Gray scored a season-high 18 points in Rhody's battle at Rutgers on Nov. 13.
- It was the Saint Louis transfer's first time hitting double digits in scoring as a Ram.
- Gray was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Second Team.Â
- She spent two seasons with the Billikens, where she had 810 career points.Â
- Averaging 11.2 points per game, Gray is 134 shy of reaching 1,000 for her career.
- She scored a career-high 30 in last year's Atlantic 10 Tournament and posted five 20-point games, including a 22-point performance in the Billikens' win over Rhode Island on Feb. 26.
