RHODE ISLAND VS. MERRIMACK - SERIES NOTES 

  • Rhode Island welcomes Merrimack to the Ryan Center Friday night.
  • It's the second meeting all-time between Merrimack and Rhode Island.
  • In the first meeting between the two schools back on Nov. 12, 2021, URI set a program record for margin of victory, beating the Warriors 106-42. The win marked the first time Rhode Island's women's team has scored 100 points in the Ryan Center. 
  • It was the eighth time in program history Rhody topped the century mark, and the first since 1996.
  • Five different players scored in double digits, and 10 different players scored.
  • The game is the home opener for the Rams, who most recently beat Manhattan 56-38 on the road to open the season with a win.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

  • Merrimack enters Friday's game coming off a 97-46 win against UMass Boston last time out.
  • Junior Madison Roman was named to the MAAC Preseason All-Conference Second Team. Last season, the forward averaged 8.7 pts and 8.7 rebounds per game.
  • In the win over UMass Boston a game ago, she opened the season with nine points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in 17 minutes.
  • The Warriors are coming off a 2024-25 campaign where they finished 14-17 and 9-11 in MAAC action.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

  • In Rhody's season-opening win over Manhattan last time out, sophomore Palmire Mbu and Albina Syla each recorded a double-double.
  • Mbu led the Rams with 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds — her second career double-double.
  • Syla added 11 points and 10 rebounds, marking the first double-double of her career.
  • The posts are led by Associate head coach Adeniyi Amadou who recruited the international student-athletes to Kingston.
