How it Happened
Rhode Island (5-22, 2-13 Atlantic 10) could not keep up with Loyola Chicago, falling 25-20, 25-10, 23-25, 25-11 Friday night.

The host Ramblers (12-15, 9-6 A-10) won the second and fourth sets without ever being tied or trailing.

Set One - Loyola Chicago 25, Rhode Island 20
The teams were never separated by more than two points until Loyola Chicago went ahead 19-16 on a Sam Falk ace. That was just enough, as Rhody could not close the gap closer than three the rest of the way. The Ramblers had a 16-11 edge in kills, led by Kaitlyn Burke's five kills.

Set Two - Loyola Chicago 25, Rhode Island 10
Loyola Chicago limited Rhode Island to one kill in the set as URI hit minus-.190 as a team. The hosts steadily pulled away in a set that was not close.

Set Three - Rhode Island 25, Loyola Chicago 23
Rhody showed some life in the third set. Aerin Bowman had five kills in 10 swings, and Havyn Rolle added four with one error in five swings. With the score tied 10-10, URI went on a 7-1 run that featured three straight Bowman kills. That stretch put Rhody in command, and a McKenna Melton kill secured the set.

Set Four - Loyola Chicago 25, Rhode Island 11
The momentum didn't last. The Ramblers scored the first five points of the set and quickly ended the match as Rhode Island had three kills with 13 attack errors.
