RHODE ISLAND VS. WAGNER - Series notes

  • Rhode Island and Wagner will meet for the first time in program history Friday.
  • The game will be the annual Education Day game, drawing thousands of kids from schools around Rhode Island to the Ryan Center.
  • Last time out, the Rams beat Providence 57-51 for their third straight win.
  • The last time Rhody was at home was back on Nov. 26. Since then, URI has won three consecutive road contests.
  • A win Friday would be the fifth win at home for Rhode Island.
  • The game is the non-conference finale for both teams.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS

  • Last time out, Wagner defeated Rider 46-34 on the road.
  • Friday's game will be the third straight game away from home for the Seahawks.
  • The team is led by Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor and her 10.7 points per game. She also leads Wagner in rebounds, adding 6.0 boards each time out.
  • The Seahawks are 1-4 on the road this season.

HOME SWEET HOME

  • Rhode Island women's basketball is back home Friday after spending the last three games on the road.
  • The Rams are looking to get back in the winning column at the Ryan Center after falling to Princeton back on Nov. 26 at home.
  • This year, Rhody has picked up wins in Kingston over Merrimack, Emmanuel College, UAlbany, and Holy Cross.
  • After the Rams welcome Wagner, they start Atlantic 10 play against Richmond Dec. 30.

REISS INCHING CLOSER TO ALL-TIME WIN RECORD

  • Rhode Island head coach Tammi Reiss sits second all-time in wins at Rhode Island.
  • She's 119-70 at the helm, making her four wins away from passing Nancy Langham, who had 122 wins leading the Rams in 1977-85.
  • Reiss is one of three coaches in URI program history to eclipse the centennial mark.
  • She picked up her 110th career win in the victory over GW at the A-10 Tournament last year.
  • Last season, Reiss bumped past Linda Ziemke who collected 106 wins in 1989-99.
  • She reached the 100-win milestone in her 160th game, making her the fastest to 100 wins in program history.
  • Langham held the previous mark for fastest to 100 wins, getting there in her 187th game.
