How It Happened
Rhode Island battled but ultimately could not keep pace with Fordham in its regular-season finale, falling 9-5 to end the 2025 season Sunday afternoon.

Rhody (14-35, 7-18 Atlantic 10) mounted a comeback in the bottom of the fourth inning to erase a 4-0 deficit. Sydney Orndorff and Casey Miller sandwiched singles around an Emily Power walk to load the bases with one out. A Natalie Maleitzke sacrifice fly brought Orndorff in with the first URI run, and Hannah Hernandez followed with a single that brought Power home to trim the deficit to 4-2. Katie Knarr laced a double to the gap in left center to plate Miller and Hernandez to knot the score 4-4.

However, Fordham (27-24, 17-9 A-10) came right back with a four-hit, four-run rally in the top of the fifth inning. A single run in the sixth padded the lead. Rhody managed just one hit over the final three innings as relief pitcher Elizabeth Gaisior (3-4) delivered 3.1 innings of two-hit, shutout work to earn the victory.
