How it Happened
A late goal by Holy Cross was the difference as Rhode Island fell 3-2 at the Crusaders Tuesday night.

The Rams twice had one-goal leads, but they could not hold on. With the score tied 2-2, Kevin Cull sent a long throw in toward the box. Kyle Martell was able to head it to the top of the box, where Jack Fiedler sent a low line drive in for his first career goal.

It was the lone goal of the second half in a match that saw four goals before the break. The first half featured a flurry of offense, as both sides scored twice. Tim Huhnholz got Rhody on the board in the fifth minute when he knocked home a cross from Tiago Barriguinha. Off a corner kick, Barriguinha sent a short pass to Parker Vasic, who returned the ball to Barriguinha for the cross to the back side of the net, where Huhnholz was able to finish.

Holy Cross responded in the 11th minute with a goal by Liam Heneghan. Just 59 seconds later, Rhody retook the lead when Kyler Vojvodic finished a cross from Theo Harris. Holy Cross tied the match again in the 26th minute when Cayden Walton slipped a low shot past URI keeper William Synnestvedt.

Rhode Island had a pair of quality chances just two minutes apart early in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Vojvodic just missed a second goal. He attempted to volley a cross from Sebastian Berntsen, but he couldn't quite get enough of the ball, and it went just side. In the 55th minute, Harris headed a cross from Vojvodic into the net, but the ball was ruled out of bounds before Vojvodic got the pass off. The call was upheld on replay review.

In the 74th minute, Archie Hatcher lofted a chip shot that was on target for the Crusaders. URI goalie William Synnestvedt was able to stretch high and get a glove on the shot, knocking it away. In the 80th minute, Sinan Bruning lined a deep shot off the crossbar, just inches away from the potential go-ahead goal.

The Rams could not get an equalizer in the final minute, dropping its third straight match.
