Rhody Athletics Challenge Raises $1.2 Million

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhody Athletics Challenge generated a record $1.2 million in donations on Oct. 26, marking a highly successful campaign on behalf of URI's varsity and club teams.

"The generosity of our community is incredible" URI Vice President and Director of Athletics Pat Lyons said. "Initiatives like the Rhody Athletic Challenge are vital to the overall success of Rhode Island athletics. To see the support we get from our community is inspiring."

The 2026 Rhody Athletics Challenge had more than 2,400 individual donors. While the day itself is over, donations can still be made here.

Spearheaded by the URI Foundation, every gift received during the Rhody Athletics Challenge goes toward supporting varsity and club sports teams.

"Being able to support our student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence in competition, academics, and life is what inspires our team every day," Associate Athletic Director for Development Nick Yanco said, "The support of our alumni, families, and friends is tremendous, and we are very grateful for all that they do."
