How it Happened
Rhode Island could not overcome Stonehill's fourth quarter push and fell to the Skyhawks 12-9 on Wednesday afternoon in North Easton, Mass. Two fourth quarter goals in the final five minutes of the game helped secure the Stonehill victory.

Rhode Island scored twice in the final minute of the first half to tie the game at 7-7 heading into the break. MJ Timpanaro converted on a free position attempt to pull the Rams within one. Caralie Basuel then finished a feed from Caitlin Dellecave in the closing seconds to even the score before halftime.

Stonehill scored two unanswered goals in the third quarter to regain control. After a scoreless first 11 minutes of the period, the Skyhawks broke through with strikes from Sophia Gouveia and Neave Bowman, to help build a 9-7 advantage heading into the fourth.

Kyndall Jackson needed just 14 seconds in the fourth quarter to find the back of the net, cutting the deficit to one and shifting early momentum to the Rams. The teams then battled through a seven minute scoring drought before Stonehill's Natalie Coutu broke through with 7:51 remaining to extend the Skyhawks lead to 10-8.

The Rams answered a minute later when Ashlyn Carpenter cut the margin to 10-9. However, Stonehill controlled the final stretch, scoring the game's final two goals.
