Playing at the Georgia Southern GATA Challenge, Rhode Island (2-2) got the second complete game in as many starts from
Avery Vale-Cruz. She hurled eight innings without allowing an earned run.
With an automatic runner placed on second for Tennessee Tech (1-8) to start the top of the eighth, Vale-Cruz got a pop up, a ground out and a fly out to escape the frame unscathed.
Hernandez was placed on second to start the bottom of the inning. She advanced to third on a wild pitch and came in when Frickleton sent a fly ball to left field. Hernandez' third run of the second ended the game.
