Rams, Spiders Set to Battle in Key A-10 Clash Wednesday

RHODE ISLAND VS. RICHMOND - Series notes 

  • Rhode Island makes the trip to Richmond to face the Spiders for the second time this season.
  • In the first meeting back on Dec. 30, Rhody beat Richmond 73-61.
  • The Rams were led by Palmire Mbu's 19 points, and used a 27-point fourth quarter to defeat the Spiders at the Ryan Center. 
  • Historically, Rhode Island is 11-23 against Richmond. The win last time out against the Spiders snapped a four-game Richmond win streak in the all-time series. 
  • Rhody's last win at the Robins Center came on Feb. 19. 2022 in a 69-66 vicitory. 
  • The game is the final regular-season road trip for the Rams. 

SCOUTING THE SPIDERS

  • Richmond enters Wednesday's game defeating La Salle at the Robins Center last time out. 
  • The Spiders are 23-6 on the year, including a 13-3 slate in Atlantic 10 play.
  • Richmond is led by its big three: Maggie Doogan (21.4 ppg), Rachel Ullstrom (15.1 ppg), and Ally Sweeney (10.5 ppg).
  • Doogan, who also paces the team in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game, is a seven-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.


BOUNCE BACK

  • Last time out, Rhode Island beat Fordham 69-39 to get back in the win column.
  • The win was the 15th league win for the Rams, a program record.
  • Rhody was led by sophomore Albina Syla and her game-high 16 points.
  • The win was a bounce back after Rhode Island was handed its first loss since Nov. 26, 2025, falling to La Salle on the road for its first Atlantic 10 loss of the year.

  • The Rams are 13-1 in the year 2026.
  • Rhody is 23-1 when leading at the half.
  • Rhode Island is 17-0 when the game is decided by 10+ points.
