Rhode Island Earns Top Seed for 2026 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island will be the top seed at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship, the conference announced Saturday.

The Rams won their second regular-season title in thee years by knocking off George Washington 72-48 earlier in the day. Rhody and George Mason finished with 16-2 records, but URI beat the defending conference champions in the lone head-to-head matchup during the regular season during the regular season to earn the tiebreaker.

The Rams earned a double bye in the tournament. Rhode Island will play the winner of No. 8 Loyola Chicago and No. 9. St. Bonaventure on Friday, March 6 at 11 a.m. The game will air nationally on the USA Network. 

ESPN+ will stream Wednesday's first round doubleheader and Thursday's second round games. The quarterfinals will air on USA Networks on Friday, with Saturday's semifinals taking place on CBS Sports Network. 

The championship final will tip-off at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, with Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck on the call for the nationally-televised ESPN2 broadcast.
