RHODE ISLAND AT THE ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT - Series notes

  • Rhode Island advanced to the semifinal round after beating Loyola Chicago in the Quarterfinals.
  • The hunt for Rhode Island's first Atlantic 10 Tournament crown continues Saturday at 11:00 a.m. when the Rams play Davidson.
  • Historically, Rhody is 21-37 at the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
  • Head coach Tammi Reiss is 6-6 at the conference tournament. After starting her career 0-3 at A-10's, Reiss has been 6-3 since 2023.
  • Rhode Island is 2-5 in the semifinal round.
  • It's the first appearance for the Rams in the semifinal since the 2024 season.
  • The Rams have never won an Atlantic 10 Tournament title.
  • Rhody defeated Davidson in the lone meeting between the two teams earlier in the season back on Jan. 21 (60-53).

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

  • The Wildcats advanced to the A-10 semifinals after defeating Saint Joseph's in a thrilling Quarterfinal win (64-59).
  • With the win over the Hawks, Davidson moved to 21-11 overall.
  • Davidson is led by Charlise Dunn (15.4 ppg). Dunn also paces the team in rebounds at 7.5 per game.
  • It's the second straight year the Wildcats secured the double-bye.
  • Dunn earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, the league announced Tuesday ahead of the Championship.
  • Junior Katie Donovan collected A-10 All-Conference Second Team honors.

MAKE THAT 26 WINS

  • The win against Loyola Chicago was the 26th win of the season for Rhody.
  • It matches the all-time record for wins that the Rams initially set in the 2022-23 season.
  • It's the fourth 20-win season under head coach Tammi Reiss in her seven years at the helm.
  • For perspective, in the 38 years before Reiss, the Rams recorded 22 20-loss seasons.
  • Reiss posted three straight 20-win seasons from 2021-22 through 2023-24 for the first time ever.
  • Before Reiss, the Rams had just two 20-win seasons.
  • With the 26 wins, the Rams have surpassed last year's win total  (17).
