My name is Brinley Myers, and I am a rising senior (redshirt sophomore) on the women's lacrosse team at the University of Rhode Island, double majoring in Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Sports Media & Entertainment! This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work in San Francisco, California, as a Communications/Public Relations Intern for the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center. Over the summer, I had the privilege of learning and working alongside a talented, welcoming staff whose dedication and expertise inspired me every day.

Â
The Golden State Warriors PR department is split into two main branches, Basketball Operations and Corporate PR, with a ton of synergy between the two. Basketball Operations focuses on team coverage, player PR, and game-day media relations, while Corporate PR manages everything happening across Chase Center and Thrive City, including concerts, special events, watch parties, and youth sports camps. Having the chance to work across both sides gave me a comprehensive look at how a premier professional sports franchise operates.
Â
Â
My experience on the Basketball Operations side began with hands-on PR work during the 2026 NBA California Classic Summer League at Chase Center. I did credentialing, guiding media and family through the arena, printed and ran stats at timeouts and halftime, and did mics for pre- and post-game interviews for the media to ask their questions. Similarly, I got an opportunity to assist with in-game PR for the Golden State Valkyries WNBA team. Working sellout games while managing media credentials, working on game notes, and doing mics for pre- and post-game interviews gave me a front-row seat to the phenomenal growth of the WNBA. Additionally, for the NBA Las Vegas Summer League, I had the responsibility of writing game recaps for every Warriors summer league game, and I was thrilled to be officially credited in the team's Summer League Review Guide!

Â
Â
On the Corporate PR side, I gained experience in media relations, writing, and daily communications strategy. I got the opportunity to write a media advisory for a Thrive City pickleball tournament and built a database of over 300 media contacts to help prepare the department for the upcoming season. Every morning, I compiled the organization's daily news clips by monitoring top print, digital, TV, and radio outlets—including the San Francisco Chronicle, ESPN, The Athletic, NBC Sports Bay Area, TVeyes, and SoundCloud. Every Monday, I put together that week's Golden State Weekly, a newsletter highlighting organizational updates, Warriors and Valkyries news, Chase Center events, and community initiatives like court refurbishments and youth equipment giveaways. I also contribute to creating a history PR plan, by reaching out to historic franchises to research alumni relations and legacy preservation, helping lay the groundwork for our team's history PR plan next season.
Â

Â
Working in professional sports PR taught me so much about the fast-paced strategy and teamwork required behind the scenes. This internship reinforced my passion for sports media and communications. I am so grateful to the Warriors staff for making this summer so special, and I can't wait to bring everything I learned back to the University of Rhode Island for my senior year!
