How it Happened
Rhode Island dominated the first half, then held off Holy Cross late to get its first win of the season. The Rams beat the Crusaders 2-1.

Theo Harris used his head to get the Rams on the board in the 15th minute. Luca Krause sent a ball into the box, and it deflected high off a Holy Cross defender. Harris was perfectly positioned to bounce a header into the net, giving Rhody a lead for the first time this season.

A Holy Cross handball in the box led to a penalty kick for Rhode Island in the 21st minute. Tiago Barriguinha went top shelf to put URI ahead 2-0.

The Crusaders cut the lead in half with a bullet off the foot of Archie Hatcher. In the 59th minute, Hatcher took a low cross Adric Rosato and fired away from well outside the box. The line drive beat Rhody keeper William Synnestvedt to his right.

Synnestvedt came up big down the stretch. He made five saves in the final 15 minutes to maintain the lead. His diving save of a shot by Gabe Raphael in the 83rd minute was the biggest play of the match. In the 87th minute, he made another big stop, tipping a shot over the crossbar. The plays helped Rhode Island hold on for the victory.
