KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island outside hitter
Cara Richter was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Richter averaged 3.0 kills and 2.07 digs over 14 sets at the Leopard Invitational, hosted by Lafayette over the weekend. She had at least 13 kills in all three matches the Rams played.
During the team's five-set loss to Lafayette, Richter had 13 kills and nine digs. She had 15 kills and 13 digs for her third career double-double against Penn. Finally she had 14 kills and seven digs in a four-set win over Quinnipiac. Richter hit .216 for the week while also adding eight block assists and six service aces.
One of three players to play every set this season for Rhode Island, Richter leads the team in kills (107) and points (122.5). She also is second on the Rams with 75 digs. She and fellow freshman
Jahan Lalli are tied for the team lead with three double-doubles apiece.
Richter is already the second Ram to earn a weekly honor from the A10 this season. Libero

league's defensive player of the week for the week of Aug. 31.
Rhode Island will compete at UConn's For The White & Blue Tournament this weekend. The Rams play Merrimack on Friday, Sept. 18, Coppin State on Saturday, Sept. 19 and UConn on Sunday, Sept. 20. All three matches will stream on
