2016-17 (Graduate Student)

  • Was named to the PING All-Northeast Region Team, the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team and the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team.
  • Also earned a pair of A-10 Golfer of the Week awards (Sept. 29, April 7).
  • Was the individual medalist in two tournaments - the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge (-4) and the Manor Intercollegiate (-3). 
  • Was URI's top finisher in three tournaments overall and had seven top-20 finishes.
  • Ended the season with a 72.4 stroke average.

At Penn State

  • Was a four-time Big Ten All-Academic selection and a two-time Ping All-Northeast Region Team honoree.
  • Was the individual medalist at the 2013 Colleton River Intercollegiate.
  • Turned in five other top-10 finishes, placing second at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate (2015), fifth at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate (2016), eighth at both the Georgetown Intercollegiate (2012) and the Challenge at Champions vs. Michigan Sate (2016) and 10th at the Rutherford Intercollegiate (2013).
  • Posted a 75.2 career stroke average over 65 rounds at Penn State.
  • Helped lead the Nittany Lions to the NCAA Regionals in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
  • Team also captured the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate and Mountaineer Intercollegiate in 2015, en route to earning a No. 11 ranking by Golfstat. 

High School

  • Was a four-year member of the golf team at Gilford High School, captaining the squad in both 2010 and 2011.
  • Was crowned NHIAA Individual champion in four consecutive seasons (2008-11). 
  • His senior year, he won the NHIAA tournament by 11 strokes (67-70=137).
  • Was a high honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society.
  • Also served as band president.

Personal

  • Born October 21, 1996.
  • Son of Toni and Kurt Houston.
  • Has a younger sister, Caitlin.
  • Favorite athlete is Tiger Woods.
  • Favorite teams are the New England Patriots and anything Penn State.
  • Enjoys college football, New England Sports, skiing, video games and attempting to play guitar.
  • Felt that URI would provide him with the best opportunity to further develop his skills and progress his game while also working towards his MBA... The competitive environment within the program and the chance to play closer to home also factored into his decision to attend Rhode Island.
  • Is a graduate student pursuing his MBA.
