2017 (Freshman)

  • Did not appear in any games during his rookie season with the Rams.

High School

  • Was a member of the soccer, ice hockey and outdoor track & field teams at South Kingstown High School, captaining all three teams his senior year.
  • Earned All-Division Second Team honors in soccer (2016) and ice hockey (2017).
  • Was an All-State Third Team selection in the javelin (2017).
  • Also earned All-Division and All-State Academic honors in 2016
  • Played club soccer for Rams F.C. from 2012-17 and helped lead his teams to U16 (2015), U17 (2016) and U18 (2017) state titles.
  • Was a member of the National Honor Society and the Debate Team.
  • Placed second at the Rhode Island Science and Engineering Fair.
  • Participated in Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse (2014-17) and Freshman Mentoring Program (2015-17).

Personal

  • Born August 2, 1999.
  • Son of Meredith and Toby Gibbons.
  • His mother currently works as a Learning Specialist/Academic Advisor for URI Athletics… She also a member of URI’s women’s soccer team from 1987-88, competing under her maiden name, Meredith Drennan.
  • His father was a member of the Springfield College ice hockey team from 1990-93.
  • Has a younger sister, Grace, and two younger brothers, Brendan and Andrew.
  • Grandfather is former Rhody Golf head coach Tom Drennan, who is in URI’s Hall of Fame as well as the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame.
  • Enjoys listening to music and spending time with friends.
  • Favorite athlete is Wayne Gretzky.
  • Favorite teams are the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Manchester United.
  • Chose to attend URI over Stonehill, Boston College, Holy Cross, Merrimack, Fordham and RPI.
  • Selected Rhode Island because he felt at home with the men’s soccer team and enjoyed the campus community and academic opportunities at URI; felt as though it was the complete package.
  • Majoring in Chemical Engineering.
  • Plans to pursue a career as an engineer.
