Rhode Island women's basketball head coach Tammi Reiss announced the addition of Tyler Lowder as video coordinator to the staff in June. "I am really thrilled to have Tyler join our Rhody Women's Basketball staff," said Reiss. "He has a great pedigree coming from a winning Indiana women's basketball program. He really impressed me during the interview process and was seasoned beyond his years. His colleagues spoke passionately about his work ethic, enthusiasm and passion for the game."
Lowder arrives in Kingston after a three-year stint as head student basketball manager with the Indiana women's basketball program. During his time in Bloomington, he handled supervising and coordinating the efforts of over 30+ managers, effectively managing day-to-day responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the team. He spent time working with elite athletes, including the No. 7 pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft Grace Berger and All-Americans Mackenzie Holmes and Sara Scalia, contributing significantly to their player development, skill enhancement, and individual successes.
He saw himself gain valuable insights into elite coaching strategies and team management under the mentorship of the 2023 AP Coach of the Year and two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year, Teri Moren, fostering a deep understanding of the dynamics required for success at the highest levels of women's basketball. In 2023, he was named the USG Student Manager of the Year for women's basketball and earned a Grow the Game All-American Manager nod.
"He absolutely loves basketball and wants to grow beyond his Video Coordinator position," added Reiss. "He will be handling all our video responsibilities, but I am most excited to have him on the court with our student-athletes. Tyler is going to be a great asset to our staff and players and I'm excited to see him grow in our program."
