Brian Shanley joined Val Villucci's staff as an assistant coach in July of 2019.

Shanley is the highly successful former men's tennis coach at Division III Salve Regina University in Newport. During his 14-year run with the Seahawks, Shanley won 10 Commonwealth Coast Conference titles and led the program to the first two NCAA appearances in program history.

In 14 seasons at Salve Regina, Shanley had a record of 175-76-1 and was the CCC Coach of the Year eight times. In 2007, he was the ITA Northeast Coach of the Year and was one of four finalists for National Coach of the Year.

In addition to coaching at Salve Regina, Shanley also was an Associate Dean of Admissions with the university. He has been the Director of Tennis at Pt. Judith Country Club in Narragansett, R.I. since 2000, and he also spent two years as the Manager of Special Events for the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport from 1995-96.
