Peter Winters joined Angel Agu's coaching staff in July of 2021. He came to the Rams from fellow Atlantic 10 program VCU, where he helped the school reach the conference championship match in 2020-21.
At VCU, Winters coached freshman middle blocker Jasmine Knight and freshman right side Lauren King, both of whom earned second team all-conference and all-rookie team honors. As a team, VCU led the league in blocks.
Before his time at VCU, Winters was an assistant coach for Eastern Michigan from January of 2017 through March of 2020. He helped the team make the first NCAA Championship appearance in program history in 2018 after Eastern Michigan won its first Mid-American Conference tournament.
In 2018, Eastern Michigan ranked in the Top 25 nationally in digs per set (11th), kills per set (20th) and assists per set (24th).
Winters also has experience with the Huron Valley Volleyball Club, where he served as the director of training, recruiting coordinator and national team coach from January of 2013 through June of 2018. He was an assistant coach at the University of Michigan-Dearborn from June 2014 until May 2016.
Winters earned his bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management from Northern Arizona University in 2013.
