Ben Ratier joined the academic advising office in March of 2023. In his role, he works with student-athletes from the women's basketball, football and lacrosse teams. Previously, he worked with the women's volleyball and swimming and diving teams.

Before coming to Rhode Island, Ratier worked at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. From 2021-23, he was a general academic advisor, supporting the student body through advising but also contributing to the pilot first-year learning experience. Before that, he worked for URI Housing and Residential Life and student activities during the 2020-2021 school year.

Ratier earned a bachelor's degree in Criminology from Rhode Island in 2018, and a master's degree in Higher Educational Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Iowa in 2020. While at Iowa, he worked with student-athletes from the football, men's basketball and men's swimming and diving programs as an academic coach.Â
Ratier and his family have been URI men's basketball season ticket holders since 2015-2016 season.
