Grace Steensma joined the Rhode Island Athletics Department as its Creative Content Director in August of 2024.
In her role, Steensma oversees all video and photo creative content for URI Athletics. In addition to overseeing all action photography, she coordinates all team photo and video shoots. She manages a team of student photographers and videographers to ensure coverage of all 19 teams for the University.
Before coming to Rhode Island, Steensma worked as a photographer and videographer for several organizations. She covered University of Kansas athletics for the Daily Kansan from March 2023-May 2024, including covering the Kansas women’s basketball team’s run in the 2024 NCAA Championship. She worked as a videographer for the Kansas City Mavericks Hockey Club in the ECHL during the 2022-23 season.
Steensma also has experience as a creator with the University of Kansas football and basketball programs. Additionally, she has worked with the London Technology, Engineering, and Design Institute, the University of Kansas College of Biological Sciences and the Ming Entertainment Group.
Steensma graduated from Kansas in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications and a minor in Film and Media Studies.
