Paulo Mendes enters his first season with Rhode Island Football as defensive quality control and an outside linebackers assistant in 2025.
A member of the program since the spring of 2024, Mendes previously served as a student assistant coach, working with both the outside linebackers and special teams. His coaching resume also features a two-year stay with Central High School in his home city of Providence, where he was the assistant football strength & conditioning coach.
An active member of hte URI community, Mendes was a Residential Assistant and the President of the Cape Verdean Student Association during his years as an undergraduate student. Before graduating with a B.A. in secondary education, with a focus in history and political science, Mendes was a student teacher at Providence Career and Technical Academy, as well as North Kingstown High School. He also interned as an academic advisor on campus.
