Ryan McCormack joined Rhode Island Football as the Director of Scouting in the spring of 2025, bringing 25 years of coaching experience to the program.

McCormack made the move to Kingston following an 11-year stint at UMass Dartmouth, where he finished his tenure as the running backs coach/recruiting coordinator. In his time with the Corsairs, McCormack played a pivotal role in recruiting several of key players from around New England, New York, Louisiana and Florida. Under his guidance, UMass Dartmouth won three consecutive MASCAC titles (2022-24), earning two playoff berths (2022, '24) and two New England Bowl appearances (2021, '23). In 2021, the Corsairs won the New England Bowl.

Prior to coaching at UMass Dartmouth, McCormack served as the defensive coordinator at Mt. Hope High School for two seasons, where his charges earned a berth in the Rhode Island State Playoffs in 2012 and 2013. McCormack also sandwiched a one-year stint at Rogers High School between two stretches at Middletown High.

Between 2000 and 2006, McCormack was responsible for a variety of roles on the staff of his alma mater, Salve Regina. During his six seasons with the Seahawks, he served as a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator before being promoted to defensive coordinator and defensive linemen coach. He mentored nine defensive all conference players, while also tutoring the Hal Chalmers Award recipient, honoring the top student-athlete in the New England Football Conference.

Previous to his 22 years of coaching experience, McCormack was a four-year member of the Salve Regina football team, where he played on the defensive line and handled the long-snapping duties. He helped the Seahawks capture four conference championships, three ECAC Bowl Championship appearances and was a 1998 ECAC Bowl Champion. In the 1997 season McCormack was part of the Salve Regina Defensive Line that created the number one overall leader in total defense in the country.
A 2000 graduate with a bachelor’s of arts degree in administration of justice represented the Division III student-athlete model, earning Magna Cum Laude honors. In the spring of 2003, he earned his master’s degree in administration of justice from Salve Regina.Â
