Walter Boyle begins his 35th year at the University of RhodeIsland - and 12th as Assistant AD for Operations - in 2013-14. Hehandles all aspects of game operations, including its annualbudget, hiring and training event staff personnel, and as a liaisonbetween all ancillary agencies (police, fire, etc.) as well aslands & grounds crews.
Boyle arrived at Rhode Island in 1978 as Assistant Director ofAthletics, Tickets & Promotions, where he handled all aspectsof tickets for events as well as special promotions and marketingvenues. In 1991, he was also placed in charge of the University'sAthletic Volunteerism Program.
A 1970 graduate of Providence College, Boyle was anadministrative assistant to the executive director and box officesupervisor at the Providence Civic Center for six years. With aBachelor of Arts in English, he was commissioned a SecondLieutenant in the U.S. Army, graduating the PC ROTC program.
He rose to the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve as aField Artillery Officer. Active in student affairs at Providence,Boyle was elected to 'Who's Who' and the 'National StudentRegister' as an undergraduate. As a senior, he served as VicePresident of the Student Congress.
He is currently a member and past officer of the NarragansettLions Club and is a member of the Board of Canvassers for the townof Narragansett.
Boyle and his wife, Janet, were married in 1983 and reside inNarragansett. The couple has two children: Peter and Karen.
