Zachary Baker joined the Rhode Island Athletics Academic Advising staff in 2023 as an academic advisor and learning specialist. In his role, he works directly with the men's basketball, women's rowing and softball programs.
Baker monitors academic progress for student-athletes as it relates to NCAA eligibility and progress toward degree requirements. He works in collaboration with advisors from each degree granting college to advise student-athlete. He also coordinates and organizes study hall and supplementary academic support meetings for all men’s basketball student-athletes. During the season, Baker travels to competitions with the men’s basketball program to provide support during missed class time.
Before coming to Rhode Island, Baker served in a similar role at Bryant University from 2018-13.
Baker earned a bachelor's degree in Communications and Public Relations from Appalachian State University in 2013. He was a four-year member of the football team while attending the school. He later earned a master's degree in Higher Education Counseling from Providence College in 2019.
Baker and his wife Ashley live in Providence, R.I.
