Rhode Island posted a 1-1 tie with St. Bonaventure in an Atlantic 10 soccer matchup at the McGraw-Jennings Field on Sunday afternoon.
The two teams battled through a scoreless first half before URI sophomore Gina Rosen got the Rams on the board, putting in a rebounded shot at the 65:18 mark for the 1-0 lead. St. Bonaventure responded at the 76:25 mark when Lisa Nicola put in a pass from Danielle Doemel to tie the game at one apiece. The two teams were tied at the end of regulation and battled through two overtime periods and settled for the 1-1 tie. The Rams outshot the Bonnies by a 27-9 margin, including 9-2 in both overtime periods.
Junior Kate Hirsch made three saves in goal for URI while Karen Cunningham made 12 stops for the Bonnies. Rhode Island will return to action on Friday, October 6 when they host Temple in an Atlantic 10 matchup at the URI Soccer Complex at 7:00 p.m.
