KINGSTON, R.I. - Sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Epperlein made eight saves for Rhode Island to lead the Rams to a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts in the Atlantic 10 conference opener for both teams at the URI Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon. It was the first time in school history that the Rams have beaten the Minutewomen.

Rhode Island would add to their lead later in the first half as senior Stephanie Boisvert (North Scituate, R.I.) put in a corner kick from Zanni to make the score 2-0. URI closed out the scoring when junior Shannon Kittleson took a cross from sophomore Gina Rosen to put the Rams ahead 3-0.
