The women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Michigan State on Friday at the Rutgers University Invitational in Piscataway, N.J.
The Spartans had their first goal early in the first half (13;27) from 15 yards out by Erin Konheim with the assist from Emma Harris.
In the second half, (51:10) the Rams' own Megan Kasparek (Trumbull,Conn.) scored on a pass 15 yards out, from freshman Debra Nelson (Chepachet, R.I.) to tie the game 1-1. The Spartans fought back three minutes later when Lauren Zacharski had a shot off the post and Abby Shepherd scored on the rebound from the goal line.
Rhode Island had a total of 11 shots and three shots on goal, while Michigan had four shots and three shots on goal.
The team will be back in action on Sunday when they take on Santa Clara at 12:00 p.m. The game can be seen on gametracker at the following link:
