BOSTON (AP) - Dawan Robinson scored nine points and Jamaal Wise added eight and a key blocked shot as Rhode Island survived a second-half rally for a 48-38 win over Boston University Tuesday.
BU ended the game on an 18-10 run, but Wise blocked a Shaun Wynn layup with 43 seconds remaining. Robinson hit a pair of free throws with 12:17 left to give the Rams (3-1) a game-high 38-20 lead. But BU (0-4) pulled to within 44-36 on a jumper from Corey Hassan with four minutes to go. After Wynn hit two free throws with two minutes left, Rhode Island shut out BU and made three free throws in the closing minute.
Jimmy Baron scored seven points during a decisive 9-0 Rhode Island run midway through the first half. Robinson hit a running jumper at the buzzer as Rhode Island extended its lead to 26-14 at halftime.
Rhode Island held BU to 22 percent shooting in the first half and 28 percent for the game. The Terriers had 18 turnovers.
Kevin Gardner had nine points and 12 rebounds for the Terriers, who opened the season with four straight losses for the first time in six years.
