Baseball Falls To St. Bonaventure, 5-4

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island baseball team had an eight game winning streak snapped by a 5-4 loss to St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon at Bill Beck Field in Kingston.

Rhody got on the board first with a run in the third inning on a single by senior second-baseman Wayne Russo. Russo finished the day with two hits and a RBI.

The Bonnies answered back with two runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth to go ahead 4-0. The Rams bounced back scoring one run in the sixth on a single to left field by sophomore left-fielder C.J. Simons and another run in the seventh as junior right-fielder Scott Brown was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score sophomore third-baseman Shaun Hagey to make the score 4-3.

The Rams tied up the game in the eighth on a single to left field by sophomore shortstop Mike O'Malley which scored freshman Chris Parkinson whom was running for sophomore Zach Zaneski.

St. Bonaventure sealed the victory with a homer in the ninth by designated hitter Tristan Mulcahy.

The Rams (22-7, 9-3 A-10) continue their series with the Bonnies (14-13, 8-5 A-10) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and again on Sunday at 12:00p.m. at Bill Beck Field in Kingston, R.I.
