KINGSTON, RI - The University of Rhode Island baseball team lost its third-straight game on Monday afternoon following an 8-4 loss to Boston College (21-20-1) at Bill Beck Field in Kingston. The Rams were led by junior right fielder Scott Brown who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored.
The Eagles got on the board first scoring one run in the top of the second inning. The Rams answered back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second on a double to left center by Brown scoring senior second baseman Wayne Russo, senior left fielder Daryl Holcomb and sophomore shortstop Mike O'Malley making the score 3-1.
Boston College tied the game in the fifth on a two-run single to center field by sophomore second baseman Johnny Ayers. Rhody regained the lead in the seventh on a solo homerun to right field by Brown.
The Eagles ran away with the game in the eighth inning scoring five runs on six hits to make the score 8-4.
Sophomore catcher Zach Zaneski, junior first baseman Ryan Cunningham and junior center fielder Dave Savard contributed the other four hits to make up the Rams' total six compared to the Eagles' 11.
The Rams (22-9) travel to Cambridge, Mass. on Wednesday to take on Harvard at 3:30 p.m.
