Rams To Finish Game Against Brown, Also Add Game With Connecticut

The Rhode Island baseball team will finish the doubleheader that it started at Brown on April 12 today at 4:15 in Providence. The Rams opened the doubleheader with a 5-4 victory before the second game was called in the fourth inning due to darkness with URI leading 9-6.

Sophomore shortstop Mike O'Malley was 3-for-3 with his first homerun of the season while junior designated hitter Gregg Allen had two hits for the Rams before the game was called.

In game one, sophomore third baseman Shaun Hagey was 3-for-4 with a run scored and senior catcher Josh Nestor went 2-for-4 including the game-winning double in the seventh and final inning. Senior captain Tom Venedam earned his first win of the season in relief and sophomore Brett Palanski recorded his second save of the season.

Rhode Island has also added a date to the schedule with Connecticut in Kingston on Monday May 15 at 3:00 pm.

Next up for the Rams will be three games with Atlantic 10-leading Dayton in Kingston on Friday at 3:00 pm, Saturday at 12:00 pm and Sunday in a game moved to 11:00 am.
