Walk-Off Wins Game For Rams, 2-1

KINGSTON, RI - The University of Rhode Island baseball team defeated Dayton 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Bill Beck Field in Kingston. Sophomore shortstop Mike O'Malley hit a walk-off homerun to win the game in the bottom of the ninth.

The Rams first and only other run came in the third inning on a single up the middle by senior second baseman Wayne Russo scoring junior center fielder Dave Savard. The Flyers scored a run in the sixth to tie the game at 1-1.

Russo finished the game with two hits and one RBI .

Junior Stephen Holmes earned the win after pitching the complete game giving up only one run on five hits while striking out eight.

The Rams (26-9, 11-4 A-10) finish their series with Dayton (24-16, 12-5 A-10) on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in Kingston.
