KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island opens up Atlantic 10 play this weekend at home, beginning with Saint Louis on Friday night at 7 p.m.
The Rams (0-7-1) just finished an 11-day break from competition, last taking to the pitch in a 1-0 loss at Quinnipiac on Sept. 19.
Saint Louis enters Friday night's contest with a 1-4-5 overall record. The Billikens have played to five nil-nil draws so far this season, allowing opponents to score just seven goals in 10 matches. Since joining the Atlantic 10 in 2005, SLU and URI have played six times, with the Billikens holding a 5-1 edge in the series.
Charlotte and Rhode Island face off on Sunday, Oct. 3. The 49ers enter the weekend with a 7-3 record and face Massachusetts on Friday, Oct. 1 before visiting Kingston. Defensively, Charlotte has also been stingy, allowing just eight goals through the first 10 matches of the season. In five all-time meetings between the two schools, the 49ers hold a 3-2 edge in the series.
