Final Stats

KINGSTON, R.I.- The University of Rhode Island women's soccer team netted two second half goals on the way to a 2-2 draw against Saint Joseph's at the URI Soccer Complex on Friday night.

URI's record now stands at 2-11-2 (2-3-1 A-10) and SJU is now 5-9-1 (2-3-1 A-10) as both teams stay tied in the conference standings.

The Hawks would get on the board first with just under 19 minutes remaining in the opening half as Mo Hawkins was able to split the Rhody defense thanks in part to a strong feed from Devin Griffin. Hawkins wouldn't waste the break away opportunity as she put her shot past Sasha Reiber.

Rhody would answer in the 70th minute as Alexis Veith sent a cross from the left side of the field that tipped off a Hawks defender to find its way into the back of the net to tie the score at 1-1.

The Rams would take the lead just two minutes later thanks in part to a turnover by St. Joe's keeper Christine Neal. After Adrienne Ruhe Lischke put the ball on net, Neal was unable to handle the ball cleanly and Kaylen Shimoda was able to collect the loose ball and send it into an open net to give the Rams a 2-1 lead.

However, Rhody was unable to hold the advantage as Jen Pfeiffer scored on a free kick from just outside the box to tie the game at 2-2 with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.

Both teams would go quiet in the overtime periods as the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Reiber made four saves in goal for the Rams while Neal made eight saves for the Hawks. For the game, Rhody out shot SJU by a 13-8 margin.

Rhode Island is back in action this Sunday as they play host to Temple on Senior Day at the URI Soccer Complex. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
