KINGSTON, R.I. - Sophomore Mike LeBel went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs as the Rhode Island baseball team cruised past Brown, 15-4, on Wednesday afternoon at Bill Beck Field. Junior Kyle Borden and senior Zoey Angulo also recorded three hits in the victory while five other Rams finished with multiple hits on the afternoon.

Rhode Island (4-9) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second as junior Evan Laude plated classmate Tom Coulombe with an RBI single to right field before crossing the plate on Angulo's single through the right side. Coulombe went on to pick up a pair of RBI the following inning as his single to right drove in both Borden and senior Oliver Palmer.

LeBel then put the Rams ahead by five with a two-out solo shot in the bottom of the fourth before Rhody plated three more the following inning, to lead 8-0.

Redshirt freshman Rob Curran came on in the sixth and tossed a 1-2-3 inning, to set up URI's seven run effort in the bottom of the frame.

Despite trailing 15-0, the Bears came back and scored three runs in the top of the seventh and one more in the eighth, but that was as close as they would get.

The Rams went through nine pitchers on the afternoon as each tossed one inning and none allowed more than one hit. Sophomore Anthony Pisani, senior Dan Rossignol, junior Brian Bodjiak, junior Ken Graveline, freshman Mike Bradstreet, redshirt freshman Rob Curran and junior Gardner Leaver each finished with zero runs on the afternoon. Rossignol got the win while Brown's Brad Kottman was charged with the loss.

Rhode Island finished with 22 hits on the afternoon, compared to just six by Brown, which drops to 1-7 on the season.

The Rams return to action on Friday night (6 p.m.) when then open a three-game series at UNC Wilmington.
