WORCESTER, Mass. -- Rhode Island suffered its first loss of the season, 2-0, at Holy Cross on Friday night.
The Rams took seven shots on the night, putting two on-goal. Rhody trailed 1-0 after a Holy Cross goal in the 29th minute off a header which got past goalkeeper Sasha Reiber.
In the 37th minute, URI's Agnes Arnadottir was issued a red card and the Rams finished the final 53 minutes down a player.
In the second half, the Crusaders added an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute on a shot from outside the box.
Reiber made four saves on the evening while her counterpart Ashlyn Angell stopped two shots - one off the foot of Alexis Veith and the other from Maggie McDonald.
Rhode Island plays its first home match of the season on Sunday, Aug. 29 against Northeastern. Game time at the URI Soccer Complex is set for 1 p.m.
