HAMDEN, Conn. -- Rhode Island dropped a 1-0 decision at Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats tallied the lone score of the match in the 18th minute, as Jillian Strassner took a service off a corner kick in the middle of the box. The shot ricocheted off the cross bar and into the goal, pass URI keeper Sasha Reiber.

Rhody held a 17-11 advantage in shots, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. QU took five corner kicks to two for Rhody. The Rams committed 19 fouls in the match, to eight for the Bobcats.

In goal, Reiber made three saves while her counterpart, Jillian Kelley, stopped all seven shots on net.

The Rams return to action on Friday, Oct. 1 when they open A-10 play against Saint Louis. Game time at the URI Soccer Complex is set for 7 p.m.
