Rams Tied for First at Dale England Cup Regatta

Setting the Scene
Rhode Island is in a three-way tie with Duke and Indiana after the opening day of the fourth annual Dale England Cup Regatta, hosted by the Indiana on Lake Lemon in Bloomington, Ind. The Rams have 31 team points, tying them with the host Hoosiers and Duke. Central Florida is alone in fourth place with 24 points.

Top Performances

* The JV8 team of Chelsea Paulin (cox), Anne Edwards, Anne Mulholland, Hannah Johnson, Meghan Sickinger, Lotte Sherman, Lauren Carter, Kaitlyn Rupert and Alyssa Goley won its race with a time of 7:16.0, beating Indiana by nearly six seconds. Rhode continues to be strong with its Second Varsity 8, as it is now 13-1 in JV8 races this season.
* The Varsity 8 boat, which consisted of Kristin Hudak (cox), Zoe Gentes, Sophia Labeko, Ari Wakeman, Caitlin Dowd, Lindsay Stephenson, Kari Tomeny, Megan O'Brien and Kelley Woodacre, tied for second place in a highly competitive race. The Rams and Indiana both finished in 7:07.8, just 2.9 seconds behind Duke.
* The Varsity 4 team of Catie Szymanoski (cox), Chloe Beach, Siobhan Norton, Hannah Milam and Alice Murray placed third in a time of 8:08.8. Central Florida won the race in 7:56.5, followed by Duke at 7:59.4. Rhode Island outpaced Indiana by 5.7 seconds to take third.
