Rams Fall Short Against Maine

How it Happened:

Maine was able to hold off Rhode Island 2-1 in Sunday afternoons matchup at the URI Soccer Complex. Maine jumped out to a quick lead in the fifth minute when Camille Varin-Tramblay scored off of Charlene Achille's pass in front of the net. In the 87th minute Maine added to the lead when Eve L'Abbe took a deep shot that hit the upper left corner to go up 2-0. The Rams never quit and scored in the 90th minuet on senior Ashley Evangelista's (Methuen, Mass.) goal following a free kick. Rhode Island's record moves to 6-3-1 while Maine improves to 4-3-1.

  • Total shots for each team were close with Rhode Island edging Maine six to five.
  • Rhody tallied four shots on goal while Maine registered three shots on goal.
  • The Rams had a slim advantage in corners, taking two to the Black Bears one.
