Rhody Rallies Back for 3-2 Win Over New Hampshire

How It Happened
Each of the first three sets were decided by a 25-22 score with New Hampshire winning the first and third and Rhode Island taking the second. Rhody came out strong in the fourth set, claiming the first two points and maintaining the lead the rest of the way. The Rams finished on top, 25-17, to force a decisive fifth set - which they went on to win, 15-11.

Inside the Box Score

  • Freshman Callan Kinnan led all players with a match-high 46 assists. She also added 14 digs for her first career double-double and had a pair of kills despite appearing in just four-of-five sets.
  • Sophomore starters Franki Darnold and Cate Seman also double-doubled for the Rams. Darnold finished with a match-best 19 kills and 14 digs, both career highs. Seman recorded a career-best 16 digs and 13 kills.
  • Seman's three service aces also were a match high, as were classmate Lizzy Scanlon's 28 digs. The 28 digs by Scanlon were the second most in a single match in school history, behind only Sue Scott's record 32 against Penn State in 1986.
  • Senior Jill Anderson had a .367 hitting percentage with 15 kills and four errors in 30 attacks.
  • Junior Catie Steffen reached double figures in kills for the second straight match with 16. She also had nine digs.
  • Defensively, the Wildcats combined for 22 blocks compared to Rhody's six.

Stat of the Day
The win was URI's fifth in a row over the Wildcats. Rhode Island in now 19-2 in the all-time series with New Hampshire.
