RHODE ISLAND VS. NJIT - SERIES NOTES
  • Rhode Island and NJIT are meeting for the third time.
  • URI won both previous matches, winning 3-0 in 2014 at the Art Carmichael Invitational in Kingston, R.I. and then 3-1 at the Sacred Heart Hampton Inn Shelton Invitational in 2018.
  • Friday will mark Rhody's first visit to NJIT.
  • Mariana Cova leads the NJIT attack with 80 kills. No other player on the team has reached 50 kills.
  • Both teams are looking to end losing streaks. NJIT is 3-8 and has dropped four straight matches following a 3-0 loss at Penn on Wednesday.
  • Rhode Island is 2-8 and has lost eight straight matches.

RHODE ISLAND VS. MANHATTAN - SERIES NOTES

  • Rhode Island and Manhattan are meeting for the third time.
  • Rhody won both previous matches 3-0.
  • The Rams visited Riverdale for the 2006 Manhattan Invitational.
  • The teams also played at the 2016 Hartford Invitational. 
  • Hanna Kacynska and Fiona VanDyke both average 3.0 kills per set to lead Manhattan.
  • Manhattan is 1-6 entering the weekend, with a match against Fairleigh Dickinson slated for Friday night.
  • The Jaspers entered the weekend on a five-match losing streak.
  • Saturday will be Mahattan's home opener. The Jaspers were supposed to host LIU Wednesday night, but the match was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

BOWMAN REACHED DOUBLE DIGITS

  • Senior Aerin Bowman had a team-high 11 kills in Rhode Island's match against Northwestern Monday.
  • It was the second time this season she has reached double digits.
  • Bowman had 10 kills in the season-opening victory over Siena on Aug. 29. 
  • The only other Ram to record 10 or more kills in a match this season is McKenna Melton, who had 12 kills at Stony Brook on Aug. 31.
  • Bowman is Rhode Island's active career leader with 385 kills.
  • She has played 216 sets during her time at Rhode Island.
  • Only defensive specialist Ryleigh Powers (222) has played in more with the Rams.
