Pitching Leads Rams to Sweep of UMES

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

How it Happened
Rhode Island pitchers Ashley Dumoulin and Caitlin Kennedy each picked up their first career win as the Rams (3-10) swept Maryland-Eastern Shore, 5-1 and 6-1 Wednesday.

Dumoulin went the distance for her first career complete game in the opener. Though UMES (3-17) had runners on base every inning – and had multiple runners reach in five of the first six innings – Dumoulin continuously worked her way out of jams. The freshman allowed just four hits while striking out two batters for the victory.

Kennedy followed that performance up with her strongest outing as a Ram. The sophomore pitched four innings, scattering six hits and allowing just one run. Senior Sam Bedore shut the door on the host Hawks, striking out seven while pitching three scoreless innings to record the save.
