Rams Host UMass Lowell, Bryant In Non-League Action

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island begins a stretch of eight games in the next eight days when it battles UMass Lowell Tuesday afternoon at the URI Softball Complex.

Tuesday's doubleheader represents two of the six games URI will host this week. After two games Tuesday, Rhody plays a single game against Bryant on Wednesday. This weekend, the Rams host Loyola Chicago for a three-game series that has a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The home stretch concludes with a doubleheader against New Haven on Tuesday, April 14.

  • UMass Lowell leads the all-time series, 5-3.
  • Tuesday will mark the first meeting between the two programs since 2017.
  • All eight games in the series happened from 2014-17.
  • Rhode Island is 1-3 when hosting the River Hawks.
  • The River Hawks most recent opponent was Bryant, which took two of three in the series between the teams.
  • Rhode Island hosts Bryant in a single game Wednesday afternoon.
  • UMass Lowell Director of Athletics Lynn Coutts and Rhode Island softball head coach Mike Coutts are married.

RHODE ISLAND VS. BRYANT - SERIES NOTES 

  • Rhode Island leads the all-time series, 15-2.
  • The Rams have won each of the last three meetings.
  • This is the fourth consecutive season the teams will meet, with the schools playing a single game each time.
  • Bryant is 13-16 on the season.
  • The Bulldogs were a combined 56-49 in the first two seasons under head coach Bianka Bell.
  • Last season, Bryant qualified for the America East Championship for the first time in program history.
  • Bryce Clendenin, Alissa West, Gabriella Gesualdo and Teagan Thompson have combined for nine home runs, 51 runs batted in and 39 runs scored. 

BULINSKI CRACKS URI TOP 10 IN HOME RUNS 

  • Senior captain Kylie Bulinski hit her third home run of the season in Saturday's loss to Dayton.
  • It was the 13th career homer for Bulinski, which is tied for ninth in program history along with Kellie Cookus (1996-98), Paige Julich (2015-18) and Erica Robles (2017-21). 
  • Bulinski is up to 69 career runs batted in.
  • She needs seven more to reach the top 10 in that category as well.
