Orndorff, Fairbanks Earn Postseason Honors

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island had two softball players earn postseason honors from the Atlantic 10, as junior Sydney Orndorff was named to the A-10 All-Academic Team and Brooke Fairbanks received All-Rookie Team recognition.

Orndorff was one of the team's leading hitters while also earning a 3.81 grade-point average in Elementary Education. She started 37 of the 41 games she played and batted .349 with 37 hits, 20 runs scored, 16 RBI and 15 walks. Orndorff led the team in hits (37) and stolen bases (12) and she was hird in runs scored (20) and fourth in RBI (16).

This is her third career postseason honor. As a freshman at St. Peter's, Ordorff was a second-team All-MAAC honoree while also being named to the league's all-rookie team.

Fairbanks was Rhode Island's leading hitter in terms of batting average. The East Greenwich native became the third player in program history to bat .400 or better in a single season. She finished the year hitting exactly .400 (30-for-75) with seven doubles, one triple, one home run, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored. She started 27 of the 29 games she played.

This is the second straight season Rhode Island has had a player named to the all-rookie team. Katie Knarr was selected in 2025.
