Box Score How it Happened
Rhode Island (9-21) was able to get runners on base, but struggled to capitalize on scoring chances in a 5-1 loss to Harvard Thursday.
Harvard (17-11) scored four times in the top of the second as pitcher Laura Ricciardone helped her own cause with a two-run home run. Katherine Appelbe added insurance with a two-out, two-run single to cap the rally.
From there, Ricciardone, Taylor Cane and Gabrielle Ruiz did the rest in the circle, limiting the Rams to one run on seven hits and one walk.
Inside the Box Score:
- Sophomore Lauren Klepchick continued her hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and one run batted in. Klepchick is 5-for-8 over her last three games, and has hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games. She has reached base safely in 11 straight games.
- Senior Stacey Fox singled twice and scored a run. She has scored at least one run in five consecutive games and leads the team with 14 runs on the season.
- Fox also stole two bases, including one on a double steal with Klepchick.
- Sophomore Freshmen Marylynn Muldowney and Danielle Gariglio each singled once.
- Senior pitchers Cassie Baker and Sam Bedore combined to pitch three scoreless inning. Each had one strikeout.
