How it Happened
Rhode Island (7-10-1) won its fourth consecutive midweek game, powering past UMass Lowell 8-1 Wednesday afternoon at The Beck. The Rams jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Chris Hess' fourth-inning RBI single and never looked back.

Chase Livingston and Jordan Powell both crossed the plate in the fifth, extending URI's lead to 3-0 before the Riverhawks (5-13) scratched across their lone run of the game.

A five-run Rhode Island sixth then put things out of reach as the Rhody pitching staff allowed UMass Lowell just two hits the rest of the way.
